Our Process

Installation #1

Rule #1 when shopping for high quality marble or granite at Refined Stone is to enjoy the process. It's not everyday that you get the opportunity to remodel a kitchen or bathroom! Our objective at Refined Stone is to make the entire process as stress free and enjoyable as possible.

First, we must ask: Is natural stone the right choice for your lifestyle? Your sales representative will have a conversation with you about your lifestyle to make sure that granite is the right choice for your kitchen or bath countertop.

Installation #2

Selecting just the right natural stone can be overwhelming. We'll walk you through the choices from type of stone, such as granite vs. marble, through color and design, cross cut vs. vein cut, and even look at several different finishes - polished, honed, flamed & leather to name a few. Finally we may decide to ask you to visit one of our local suppliers where you will choose the actual slabs to be used for your project kitchen or bathroom remodeling project.

Once a stone selection has been made Refined Stone's installers will come to your home to make a wooden template or pattern of your project which will be used to make a precise cut of the stone you have selected. The template process will only take 2-3 hours depending upon the size of your project. Refined Stone will create the template over existing countertops in order to leave your home undisturbed, but we will measure cabinet sizes to ensure a perfect fit.

Installation #3

Seams between granite or marble slabs are sometimes a concern of clients. A seam in your countertop will depend on a few factors: the size of the stone slab, access into your home, and most of all the safety of the installers. Natural stone countertops can easily weigh hundreds of pounds each.

Complete installation of an average size kitchen project will usually take 3-4 hours. Removal of any existing countertop such as Corian or laminate should be completed upon our arrival. However Refined Stone can include the removal and hauling away of your existing laminate or Corian countertops in your service agreement.

After the work site has been cleaned up and inspection of the finished project is complete, our installer will seal your natural stone with a low voc water based sealer and answer any final questions which you may have about the daily care of the stone. You can contact Refined Stone anytime with questions that may arise after the installation of your new marble or granite countertop.
