The Annual Kentucky Bourbon Festival has been listed in the Top 100 Events in the U.S., it is one of the top 10 events in the Southeastern U.S. and recognized by the American Bus Association as one of the top 1000 places to see in North America before you die. The Mixed Drink Challenge is one of the top events during the festival and the winning recipes are the property of the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. Here is the recipe for the 2006 Winner.
The Fashionable Manhattan Place 3 dashes of Angosturo bitters and one wedge each of lime, lemon, and orange into a cocktail glass. Thoroughly macerate the fruit in the bitters until the inside of the glass is completely covered with bitters and fruit oils. Discard the fruit wedges and excess bitters from the glass and set it aside. Place 4 parts Kentucky Bourbon and one part Carpano Sweet Vermouth into a Boston shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for 45 seconds to one minute and strain the contents into the cocktail glass. Break one maraschino cherry into the glass. Scrape a bar spoon around on the inside of the cocktail glass to release the bitters and fruit oils from the glass and stir briefly. Serve immediately.
Refined Stone reminds you to drink responsibly and to never drink and drive. Cocktail Chatter Alpine Architecture or Medieval castle?
This stone house is probably not what you imagine if you are asked to imagine an Alpine Lodge. This new/old concept of building with wood and stone architecture was presented at Marmomacc, the 43rd Edition of the International Exhibition of Stone Design and Technology which completed its four day run in Verona Italy.

Countertops of Stone. Cabinets of Steel.
In the past year Refined Stone has worked on two kitchen rehabs where the homeowners have chosen to keep their 1950's steel cabinets and top them with hottest 21st century trend in kitchen design, million year old granite.
In 1935 Clarence MacNeille bought a small cabinet business which made "kitchen safes or dressers" for homes. His vision for cabinets which would last a lifetime became "cabinets" of steel. And so the American icon St. Charles Kitchens was born.
From the late 1940's to the early 1960's steel kitchen cabinets, particularly St. Charles Kitchen Cabinets were the must have for new home construction when the budget allowed much like the use of granite countertops today.
Today mid-century American interior design & architecture has a growing fan base which is snapping up retro items from this period like these steel kitchen cabinets. To read more visit Retro Renovations...
